I'm Angus Purdy and I'll be a progressive voice for District 18.

A voice focused on working class issues and advocating a Nashville for Nashvillians.

People are tired of using tax dollars to fund playgrounds for tourists and are concerned about affordable housing, pedestrian/cyclist safety, education, and fair pay for civic employees.

Nashville is in need of building community and neighborhoods should be better linked from one to another.

I don’t think being a representative of a single district ends at its borders. I will work closely with colleagues from other districts to ensure working class Nashvillians are fully represented.

Nashville is my home, and it’s your home too. I want to make sure that it remains the kind of place our kids will want to call home as they grow older.

Our city has catered to tourists and corporations instead of the people who live here and it’s time to reclaim it for our kids, our neighbors, our unhoused community, our educators and public school staffers, and for our laborers.

I think we can fix things, and I’m firmly committed to push against special interests so that the working class of Nashville can once again believe in our city.

Part of building a city-wide sense of community means connecting more of our neighborhoods together, improving mass transit, prioritizing pedestrian and bicyclist safety, building affordable housing, and enforcing restrictions on short term rentals owned by outside investors.

All of these issues are interconnected and should support a Nashville where the people who work and live here can thrive. Our taxes should not be paying for billionaires' playgrounds. Our resources shouldn't be overwhelmed by a downtown that's become a theme park for tourists.

The safest neighborhoods don't have the most police; they have the most resources.
